FIREFLY Lane has had fans hooked with it’s tale of two unlikely best friends.
The Netflix series follows Kate and Tully – played by Sarah Chalke and Katherine Heigl – as they deal with love, life and loss.
Who dies in Firefly Lane?
WARNING: The below article contains MAJOR spoilers from Firefly Lane season 1.
In episode 2 of Firefly Lane it is strongly hinted that Tully has died, as we see Kate attend a funeral with her daughter and her best friend is nowhere in sight.
However, as the series progresses we soon realise that it wasn’t Tully who had passed away, and in fact her and Kate had fallen out at some point – although we still don’t know why.
After many twists and turns it was revealed that it was in fact Kate’s dad Bud who had died.
We saw during the series that he suffered from high blood pressure and had previously had a heart attack.
What is FireFly Lane about?
The official synopsis reads:
Firefly Lane is an unforgettable coming of age story, by the New York Times number one bestseller Kristin Hannah.
It is 1974 and the summer of love is drawing to a close. Kate Mularkey has accepted her place at the bottom of the secondary school social food chain.
Then, to her amazement, Tully Hart – the girl all the boys want to know – moves in across the street and wants to be her best friend.
Tully and Kate became inseparable and by summer’s end they vow that their friendship will last forever.
For thirty years Tully and Kate buoy each other through life, weathering the storms of friendship, jealousy, anger, hurt and resentment.
Is Johnny dead on Firely Lane?
Although the season finale didn’t confirm that Johnny was dead, this could be a real possibility.
The end of season 1 saw the recently divorced Johnny and Kate spend a last night together before he left for Iraq to be a war correspondent.
Viewers then saw Johnny left lying unconscious on the ground by a landmine after it exploded.
The show didn’t confirm if he was dead, however he was nowhere to be seen when the show fast-forwarded to Bud’s 2005 funeral.
