IF there was one household chore we’d happily never do again, it would be ironing – no questions asked.
For us, it’s as time-consuming as it is boring – and if you break concentration for even a second, you run the risk of burning your hand.
But while we always thought we’d have to grin and bare this daily task forever, savvy mums have shared the easy hacks which mean they never had to set eyes on an iron AGAIN.
And let’s just say, we could have done with these years ago.
We know, we know – a £2.50 spray that banishes creases in an instant sounds too good to be true.
But if this cleaning fan’s TikTok is anything to go by, then Lenor’s Crease Releaser is a fully-fledged miracle product.
At the beginning of her viral video, Claudia Hosking zooms in on her crumpled white sheets before she’d used the spray.
In the next frame, her crisp bedspread looks as thought it’s been freshly pressed after being doused in the floral-scented product.
But how exactly does it work? Well, crease releasing sprays help to relax the fibres of your fabric so that the wrinkles can be removed.
Describing the purse-friendly product as a “lifesaver”, Claudia joked in the caption: “Can you tell I’m nearly 30?!”
While we can just about muster the energy to iron our bedsheets (on a good day), jeans, skirts and trousers usually get chucked in our bottom drawer where they’ll instantly get creased and forgotten about.
Sound familiar? Well then you might just want to give this mum’s shower curtain trick a go.
Posting on the Facebook group Kmart Home Decor & Hacks Australia, the woman sung the praises of her “cheap hack”.
She wrote: “Use the $1 shower curtain rings as ‘’S’ hooks to hang up jeans/shorts if you don’t like folding or ironing.”
Once she’d linked the shower rings around the belt loops, the mum said her hack would cause creases in the hanging clothes to drop out.
And if this wasn’t enough, it also allows you to squeeze more into your wardrobe. Talk about a double-win.
Hang On In There
In the summer, we make the most of putting out clothes out to dry in the garden – but according to one savvy mum, her peg-hanger method means you don’t have to iron afterwards.
Posting on a Facebook cleaning group, the Australian mum explained how she washes her clothes on a gentle cycle and vigorously shakes them when they come out of the machine to get rid of any creases.
Then, she puts them on a clothes hanger and pulls it into shape.
Next, she hooks the hanger over a peg on her washing line and leaves them outside to dry.
The combination of the peg and hanger stops the washing blowing in the wind and getting creased.
After a few hours, she brings the clean washing inside and hangs it up in the wardrobe straight away – no ironing required.
Sharing photos of her “genius” trick, the mum wrote: “I’ll never iron again!”
Ice Ice Baby
Laundry expert and CEO of Laundryheap, Deyan Dimitrov, reckons 2021 is the year we say goodbye to ironing – and stock up on ice cubes instead.
For a crease-free solution with minimal effort, Deyan says to throw an ice cube into the tumble dryer with your dry clothes.
The heat will melt the ice and release steam which gets rid of creases in just 10 minutes or less .
Putting the hack into practice, Good Morning America shared a clip on their YouTube channel showing just how well it works.
In the video, the man attempts to dry a shirt in just three minutes and pops three ice cubes in with it.
Once it’s done, the shirt is visibly crease-free without any fuss – however, the trick is to not overfill the dryer.
