Royal Family news – Prince Charles and Camilla visit pet store as Harry complains to Oprah about ‘family struggles’

THE Duchess of Cornwall was caught grimacing and recoiling in horror after being handed a pet toy – modelled on Boris Johnson.

Camilla and Prince Charles, were spotted browsing along the High Street in Clapham Old Town, London, before stopping outside up-market pet store, Rex and Wolfe.

But as Prince Charles looked in the front window and chatted to a store worker, Camilla was standing nearby with a face of horror as someone handed her a dog toy modelled after the PM.

However, despite her adverse reaction, the Duchess was seen accepting the toy, and wandering off with it as she and her husband moved on down the street.

The humorous moment comes as Prince Harry appears to have torn into the Royal Family yet again in a thinly veiled dig about mental health “shame”.

His latest “truth bomb” came in a new episode of his mental health documentary The Me You Can’t See that aired on Apple TV.

In it, Harry says he “loves to see” when families “thrive” by discussing mental health – just days after brutally blasting the Queen and Prince Charles for meeting his own mental health struggles with a wall of silence.

  • BUCKINGHAM PALACE INTRUDER ‘GAVE A FALSE NAME’

Sentencing Buckingham Palace intruder Chorrie Thompson, 46, a judge said he had “no idea” if “his intention was to cause fear to or harm to a member of the Royal Family or their staff”.

District Judge Andrew Goldspring said: “I have no idea, because he wouldn’t engage with the probation service, what his intention was.

“I don’t accept at this stage he was seeking to use the toilet. Let’s be blunt about it, he can’t have not been aware where he was – it’s a fairly obvious building, fairly large, most people know what it is.

“He gave a false name. Every time he’s asked that specific question but interestingly not the other questions, he says no comment… that might be because he knows full well what his intention was.

“Your real reason for being there may be more serious than I might assess but I’m not going to make that leap and guess why you are there.”

He gave a false name and was found to have a “Stanley-type locking blade” when searched.

Thompson was sentenced to six months behind bars for possession of a bladed article and trespassing on a protected site when he appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court.

  • PRINCE HARRY LOVES SEEING FAMILIES THRIVE

Prince Harry says on a new episode of The Me You Can’t See with Oprah Winfrey that he “loves to see” when families “thrive” as they discuss mental health – after describing how he was met with silence by the royals.

Meghan, 39, revealed earlier this year her mental health suffered while she was living in the UK and that she was not given the help she needed when she felt suicidal.

Harry revealed how the “scariest” thing was his wife’s “clarity of thought” when she told him the “practicalities of how she was going to end her life”.

He said what stopped Meghan from giving in to suicidal thoughts was how “unfair” it would be to him after the death of his mum Princess Diana in 1997.

Harry added: “The thing that stopped her from seeing it through was how unfair it would be on me after everything that had happened to my mum and to now be put in a position of losing another woman in my life, with a baby inside of her, our baby.”

The first class postcard was delivered to the “people, communities and organisations” she and Wills visited this week, thanking them for making their return to the country “so special”.

Inside, a sweet note reads: “To the people, communities and organisations we visited and heard from; and those who stopped to wave and make our return to Scotland so special – thank you!”

  • KATE ‘DRESSES LIKE PRINCESS’ TO KEEP PROMISE TO LITTLE GIRL

Kate Middleton yesterday kept her promise to a little girl who wanted to meet a princess dressed in her favourite colour pink.

The Duchess of Cambridge proved true to her word when she invited little Mila Sneddon and her family to the Queen’s official Edinburgh home, wearing an ME+EM outfit that matched the five-year-old’s dress.

Outgoing Mila, who is battling cancer, captured Kate’s heart during lockdown – and when they met, Kate told her she wanted to give her a “big squeezy cuddle”.

Mila is undergoing chemotherapy for leukaemia and was pictured separated from her dad during the first lockdown, after he had to go to work and could not risk bringing Covid into the family home in Falkirk.

The photo – which showed Mila kissing her dad through their kitchen window – was featured in Kate’s lockdown photography project and came to symbolise isolation during the pandemic.

  • ‘GROWING UP IS DEPRESSING’

Prince Harry has said “growing up is depressing” but that “we are all in this together” in his latest rant about the Royal family.

The duke shared his fears over climate change and social media in his Apple TV documentary The Me You Can’t See.

He said: “You know, with kids growing up in today’s world, it’s pretty depressing right?

“Depending on where you live, your home country’s either on fire, it’s either underwater, your houses or forests are being flattened. Like, climate change is really playing a huge part of this as well as social media.

“I know lots of people out there are doing as best they can to try and fix these issues, but that whole sort of analogy of walking into the bathroom with a mop when the bath is over-flooding rather than just turning the tap off. Because we truly are all in this together.”

  • KATE AND WILLIAM HIT THE BEACH

Kate Middleton and Prince William yelled with delight when they hit the beach during their Scotland tour – as they returned to St Andrews where they first met 20 years ago.

The royal couple grinned and hollered on the land yachts – with competitive Kate joking “I’m catching you” as they raced on the beach.

It was William who proved the winner when they raced head-to-head across the rain and wind-lashed beach.

  • DIANA INTERVIEW SCANDAL FORCES REWRITE OF THE CROWN

The Martin Bashir scandal has forced the creators of The Crown to rewrite large sections of series five, ahead of filming next month.

The new season pivots on Princess Diana’s bombshell Panorama interview in 1995, which was secured by the disgraced BBC reporter using faked documents.

A TV insider said: “This has caused a major headache for the creators as the events before and after the interview formed the basis of so much of The Crown’s storyline.

“Although the writers constantly redraft scripts before and during filming, this provides them with a challenge on another level.

“Especially as they have to be poised to respond should any further revelations emerge in the coming weeks or months. If they do, then they may have to amend the scripts even further.”

  • LONDONER ENJOYS CAMILLA’S REACTION TO BOJO TOY

The funny moment when Camilla looked horrified when handed a BoJo dog’s toy was captured on camera by Becca Eaton, who paused during a run to watch the royals.

Becca, 28, said: “It was quite funny to watch – just a really candid reaction from Camilla.

“Prince Charles was peering into the shop and chatting to someone inside, but Camilla looked horrified as she was handed the Boris Johnson dog toy.

“She kind of stepped back away from it, and the look on her face was priceless. But she did take it, though – and she wandered off down the street with it as her and Prince Charles moved on.

“She probably gave it to one of her dogs to destroy,” Becca added jokingly.

Becca said: “I don’t know what they were doing there – I think they were just having a browse through the shops, and I think I heard someone saying they were off for lunch. It was pretty cool to see them.”

  • PALACE AIDES ‘ROLLED EYES’ OVER MEGHAN’S BABY SHOWER

Buckingham Palace aides “rolled their eyes” when discussing Meghan Markle’s “common” baby shower, the author of Finding Freedom claims.

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, celebrated her pregnancy by flying to New York by private jet in 2019 to have a five-day baby shower celebration – which was slammed as “trashy.”

Speaking in the Channel 4 documentary A Very Royal Baby: From Cradle to Crown, Omid Scobie claimed: “I remember speaking to a palace aide at the time who rolled their eyes. They were horrified that something so common was happening within the House of Windsor.”

Scobie admitted the idea of a baby shower was “as far from British tradition as you can get.”

And Ingrid Seward, a royal author, described the shower and celebration as “trashy.”

  • ROYAL AUTHOR OMID SCOBIE SHARES KATE & WILLIAM VIDEO CALL

Omid Scobie, co-author of Finding Freedom, has shared Kate and William’s video call on Twitter.

He said that it was carried out ahead of hosting a special drive-in movie screening of Disney’s Cruella at the Palace of Holyroodhouse for NHS staff and frontliners.

Scobie added that “together patrons Prince William and Duchess Kate held a video call on Monday with cast members Emma Thompson and Emma Stone.”

  • ‘REUNITED IN RAGE’

Prince Harry and his brother William may be reunited over their joint rage at Martin Bashir, and could come together to unveil a statue of their mum Diana, a royal expert has claimed.

Royal expert Robert Jobson told the ABC’s HeirPod podcast: “This may – their indignation at the BBC – may bring them all together, because frankly the feuding, blaming, finger pointing has to stop at some stage.

“I’d hope that any sons, whoever they are, royal or not, could have decency to come together to pay tribute to their mother who they lost at a very early age, and pay their respects thoughtfully and with honour.

“I think to continue this feuding is both pointless and upsetting for everybody, I don’t think doing our Royal Family any good in its brand abroad, and at some stage they have got to sit down and talk, so why not sit down and talk after the unveiling of statue of someone who did so much good for so many people around the world?”

  • HARRY’S ‘SHARED EXPERIENCE’ WITH ROBIN WILLIAMS’ SON

Harry bonded with Robin Williams’ son in the new doc episode over losing a parent after he said he was “angry” at the public for mourning Diana.

The Duke of Sussex asked Zak: “How has it played on your own mental health to experience the world grieve the loss of your father, someone they didn’t personally know, but that you knew intimately as your dad?

He replied: “It was hard to separate initially the process of privately grieving with the general public.

“I had trouble differentiating that grieving process at first and it was really challenging for me.”

Harry added: “We have a lot of shared experience when you talk about that. When you see so many people around the world grieving for someone they feel as though they knew them better than you did.”

  • PALACE INTRUDER – WHAT DID THE DEFENCE SAY IN COURT?

Anthony James, in mitigation, told Westminster Magistrates Court that Buckingham Palace intruder Chorrie Thompson, 46, was actually arrested outside the gates after starting to leave on his own.

He said: “There’s no forced entry, the defendant walked in when the gates were open. He was apprehended after only 10 seconds.

“The extent of the trespass was into security lodge, not in the main building. He had actually begun to leave the area when he was stopped.

“He went briefly into an area and indeed as soon as he saw people there, he threw some documents down and left and was apprehended outside the area he trespassed in.

“That can give you some certainty as to whether his intention was to enter the main building on a pre-planned an extensive trespass or a feature of his mental health difficulties.”

  • KATE MIDDLETON ‘STEPPING INTO PRINCE PHILIP’S ROLES’

Kate Middleton is “stepping into” Prince Philip’s role as the “glue” to help “resolve family issues,” a royal commentator has claimed.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 39, is said to be “stepping into” the “peacemaker” role left behind by Prince Philip, according to Vanity Fair royal editor Katie Nicholl.

Appearing on 60 Minutes Australia, the show’s host Tom Steinfort said: “Kate’s standing in the Royal Family has now come so far that many believe she is their biggest asset.”

Ms Nicholl replied: “I think Kate is the glue. In the same way that the Duke of Edinburgh was always the one who would help resolve family issues.

“He was the patriarch of the family.” She added: “I see Kate stepping into that role. Trying to keep things together.”

Prince Andrew has reportedly been dropped as patron of almost 50 organisations in the wake of the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal.

The Telegraph said that some felt it was “no longer appropriate” to continue their public associations with him.

While others are said to have expressed a desire to find someone “better suited” to their aims and values.

A spokesperson for the Duke of York has declined to comment on the report.

  • PRINCE HARRY HAD NO CLUE OF GRANDAD’S DEATH TILL COPS KNOCKED AT MANSION DOOR… MORE

Prince Harry discovered the tragic news of his grandfather’s death when he was visited by police after sleeping through calls in the early hours of the morning, TMZ claims.

Prince Philip died on the morning of April 9 at Windsor Castle, eight time zones ahead of California. The news was announced by Buckingham Palace in a statement at 12noon UK time. In LA, it would have been 4am.

It’s understood the Royal Family was desperate to tell Harry of the death personally to spare him the distress of learning the news in the media first.

Lieutenant Rob Minter, from the sheriff’s office, said: “We did go out there and assist with the notification. One officer attended. The officer spoke to the head of security in Montecito and confirmed that the message was going to be conveyed.”
