BRENDAN RODGERS remains keen on Nathaniel Chalobah – but the deal could hinge on Watford signing a replacement.
The Foxes coach has claimed it is ’50-50′ whether he will land a midfielder on transfer deadline day.
Speaking on Monday, Rodgers insisted: “We are trying.
“If we cannot get someone, it means the player or players are not available.”
Leicester are looking to boost their midfield options, particularly with Hamza Choudhury linked to Newcastle on loan.
But Rodgers has moved to quash those rumours and insists that Choudhury is set to stay at the club.
Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles is another touted for a late move but Leicester are set to fail in their bid.
Instead, 26-year-old Chalobah is being eyed following his strong first half of the campaign with Watford.

The once-capped England international is finally a first-team regular after years of injury problems and inconsistent form.
A product of the Chelsea youth academy, he made six loan moves before joining Watford in 2017, having spent time with the likes of Reading and Napoli.
The Hornets signed Dan Gosling from Bournemouth last week but want another central midfielder if they are to let Chalobah leave.
