Dancing on Ice judge Christopher Dean reveals he secretly coaches skate-off stars

DANCING on Ice’s Christopher Dean has admitted he secretly coaches celebrities who end up in the bottom two – despite having a conflict of interest as a judge.

The 62-year-old was a coach alongside his skating partner Jayne Torvill when the series launched in 2006.

But when it made its return in 2018, the pair moved over to the judging panel.

Ever since then, Christopher admits it’s been difficult to help out celebrities in the week with their performances.

But when quizzed on today’s This Morning by Phillip Schofield, Christopher admitted: “We used to, Phillip. But now, as judges, it’s a little bit of a conflict of interest.

“But what we’re starting to do for those who find themselves in the skate off, we’re starting to help them a little bit of personally what we’re looking for as judges to give them some ideas of what to work on for the next week.”

The skating legends pre-recorded special performances together that will air throughout this series.

Despite fears social distancing rules would prevent the duo touching, the Olympians joined together in a bubble before Christmas so they could film the dances.

Christopher added: “For us, it’s so surreal that I can’t touch Jayne and dance with her or skate with her.

“But we have pre-recorded two or three numbers that will be going into the show.”
