GOOD EVENING FROM ARGENTINA
Welcome to our live coverage of the 2022 World Cup qualifier between Argentina and Chile at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades.
Albiceleste superstar Lionel Messi returns to the pitch after a hapless season with Barcelona that saw them finishing third in LaLiga, although they did win the Copa del Rey.
Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni, though, will have a number of other top talents at his disposal for this important match with the Roja ahead of the world championships in Qatar, which could pose as Messi’ last ditch effort of ever winning the World Cup.
Among them are Paris Saint-Germain star Angel Di Maria, Ajax ace Nicolas Tagliafico, Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa and Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.
Manchester City record goalscorer Sergio Aguero, though, is not included as he tested positive for coronavirus just after his departure from the Etihad, where he spent 10 marvellous years, and his move to Barca.
Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, Tottenham loanee Juan Foyth, Norwich ace Emi Buendia and Spurs star Giovani Lo Celso also earned a call-up.
Chile manager Martin Lasarte will have former Manchester United and Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez at his disposal after his Serie A triumph with Inter.
But Lasarte will be missing Sanchez’s Inter team-mate Arturo Vidal, who has been omitted after testing positive for COVID-19
