The Spaniard charged the ball down, cut across it with the outside of his right foot and sent it fizzing into the bottom right corner to open the scoring.

Thiago’s effort appeared to spin off the surface and into the bottom corner, but one eagle-eyed footy fan things it didn’t touch the ground at all.

They said: “Does it actually bounce?

“Looks almost like the spin on the ball makes it float upwards. Incredible goal.”

Another said: “The technique to do this is out of this world.”

As Thiago got the shot off, some fans could hear Martin Tyler’s iconic ‘Gerraaaaaaard’ commentary in their head.

One said: “Can’t be the only one who who has Martin Tyler screaming ‘Gerraaaaaaaaaard!’ in their head when watching this.”

Mohamed Salah later doubled Liverpool’s lead with a well-placed finish.

The win maintains Liverpool’s perfect 100 per cent win record in Group B.

Liverpool’s competitors in the group all have a chance of qualifying – or crashing out of the competition altogether.

Porto are second on five points, ahead of AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, who both have four.
